Study and working visits for the year 2015

From 3 to 5 December 2016 a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, headed by the Director of Cabinet, Mr. Aleksandër Toma, and consisting of Ms. Vorpsi Arta and z. Eugen Papandile, legal advisers and Ms. Noela RUÇO and Ms. Alma Çomo, directors, held a two-day study visit to the Constitutional Court of Portugal.

At the invitation of the Council of Europe, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of Albania, consisting of Ms. Elsa Toska, adviser of the President of the Court, Ms. Kaliona Nushi, Ms. Valbona Pajo and Ms. Olta Aliaj, legal advisers, made a study visit to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg from 1st to 4 December 2015.

In the framework of joint activities of the Constitutional Court of Albania with Hanns Seidel Foundation, representatives of the Constitutional Court of Albania held a study visit to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) from 16 to 27 November 2015.

At the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of Romania Augustin Zegrean, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, composed of the President Bashkim Dedja, judges Besnik Imeraj and Sokol Berberi, and the Director of Cabinet of the President, Aleksandër Toma, took part in a joint activity between the two constitutional courts focused on the topic "Current jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of Albania and the Constitutional Court of Romania". Participants of this joint meeting exchanged their respective experiences related to the decision-making of both constitutional courts in the light of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.

A delegation of the Constitutional Court of Albania composed by the Secretary General, Kujtim Osmani, the Director of the Economic and Human Resources Department, Kujtim Sheshi, and Legal Advisors Elsa Toska, Fiona Papajorgji, Olta Aliaj, paid a study visit to the Constitutional Court of Spain, in Madrid, on 16 and 17 November 2015.

At the invitation and the initiative of the President of the Constitutional Court of Austria, Prof. Gerhart Holzinger, a joint roundtable was organized in Vienna, on November 5 - 6, 2015 with the participation of the Constitutional Court of Austria, the Constitutional Court of Albania and the Constitutional Court of Montenegro.

The President of the Constitutional Court of Albania, Mr. Bashkim Dedja, received in an official meeting upon their request, a group of representatives of the Venice Commission, who are in Albania to discuss with the political and institutional actors on the judiciary reform.

At the invitation of Prof. Dr. Rainer Arnold, Head of the "Jean Monnet" Department and Secretary General of the Network of European Constitutional Law, two representatives of the Albanian Constitutional Court, Mr. Kujtim Osmani, Secretary General and Ms. Arta Vorpsi, legal advisor, participated in the XVIIth International Congress of European and Comparative Constitutional Law. The Congress took place in Regensburg, Germany, on 16-17 October 2015.

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia, the European Commission for democracy through law of the Council of Europe (the Venice Commission) and the International Organization "Conference of the constitutional control organs of the countries of new democracy" held in Yerevan (Armenia) from 08 to 10 October 2015, the international conference entitled "The role of the Constitutional Courts in strengthening the independence of the judicial power: doctrinal approaches and contemporary challenges ".

A delegation of the Constitutional Court of Albania composed of Mr. Bashkim Dedja, President of the Court, Mr. Fatmir Hoxha, Judge and Ms. Thomaida Xhoxhaj, specialist in the Department of Public and International Relations, participated in the Circle of Presidents (Preparatory Meeting) that took place in the context of the XVIIth Congress of the Conference of the European Constitutional Courts, in Batumi Georgia, from 9 to September 11, 2015.
